Create an Immersive Gaming Experience

The thrill of a first person shooter, the exploration of new vistas, saving the world from the threat of immense doom.

Let’s face it, in gaming you can explore your wildest fantasies; however, if your TV isn’t matching your button mashing efforts then it becomes incredibly frustrating very quickly.

Here are Hisense's top tips for creating a truly immersive experiece by making the most of your TV settings.

Game Mode – Combatting Input Lag

Input lag can mean the difference between advancing a level or having to restart an area, and if you are experiencing lag and it's not your fault, it can be incredibly annoying! A lot of TVs offer the choice of “Game Mode”, which has a few pre-set settings; however, it's always good to double check.

Game Mode may turn off process-heavy settings to ensure input lag is minimal however, it can also change the TV's colour settings. It can also reduce the quality of the images as well, so in fast-paced games where you need to be reactive, you may want to consider the lag over the picture quality.

No Game Mode No Problem!

You may just need to change the colour profile, so this would include:

If your TV has advanced settings, you will need to turn off anything that is heavy on the processer to reduce input lag. These are the ones commonly found in various manufacturers' models to turn off or reduce to 0:

Advanced Settings
Dynamic Contrast, Black Tone, Flesh Tone, Gamma, Motion Lighting, Digital Clean View, Smart LED, Noise Reduction, MPEG Noise Reduction, Reality Creation, Motion Flow, Dot Noise Reduction, Smooth Gradation, CineMotion, Auto Light Limiter, Black Corrector, Clear White, Live Colour, Detail Enhancer, SBM, Edge Enhancer, Super Resolution, Dynamic Colour, Motion Eye Care, Real Cinema, TruMotion.

Console Settings for an Immersive Experience

Don’t forget to change your console settings as well. Make sure you go to the TV output settings on your console and change it to at least 720p, 1080p or 4k UHD. A 4K screen does make a significant impact as it offers four times the amount of pixels of a standard screen. It needs to be high to get the most out of it.

Refresh Rates

Refresh rate is essentially how many times your TV updates the image it displays per second. Therefore, a higher refresh rate has a significant impact on your gaming experience. You should have your refresh rate at 120Hz for smoother motion and to reduce motion blur, and this can truly impact fast-paced games where the reaction time makes a huge difference.

Colour Settings for Gaming

This impacts how vibrant the colours look on your TV, and you always want this set at 50% so you have a nice balance of colours (although it is very much down to personal preference and accessibility). Last of Us 2 was the first game that had pre-sets for accessibility, meaning you can cater specifically for your sight needs.

TV Backlight Settings Have an Impact

This makes your TV screen brighter and finding the correct balance will help ensure the key details in a game are clear as well as make it comfortable to play for a longer period of time. If you have an OLED this is something you don’t need to worry about however if not, then ensure its set at 50%.

Top Contrast Settings to See As Much As Possible

Your contrast settings are key for seeing every detail in the game in perfect clarity and not get sight of NPCs or the enemy lurking in the darkness. This can be down to preference and we would recommend anywhere between 70-80%.

Certain Games Will Have Specific Customisation

Games like the new Assassin’s Creed Shadows will have High and Ultra options that have features like ray-tracing, upscaling capabilities and dynamic resolution, so it will allow you to customise your sight settings more than ever before. There will also be specific accessibility settings to ensure you can immerse yourself fully into the game, whatever your situation.

Optimising your TV settings can make all the difference between an average gaming session and a truly immersive experience. From reducing input lag with Game Mode to fine-tuning contrast, refresh rates, and backlight settings, every detail plays a role in bringing your favourite games to life. Whether you're dodging enemies in a fast-paced shooter or exploring breath-taking open worlds, the right setup ensures you see every detail in crystal-clear quality.

With Hisense TVs and these expert tips, you can unlock the full potential of your gaming experience—because when every frame counts, your display should keep up with the action. Now, grab your controller and get ready to play like never before!
