Hisense rolls back to 1969 in celebration of their 50th Anniversary

Hisense celebrated 50 incredible years and took London back in time to 1969, where our story first began.

What better way to grab the attention of the capital than comparing the old with the new. To bring this idea to life, Hisense built the "Home of the Old & New" – an experiential wonder allowing commuters and visitors of Kings Cross Station to experience the progression of TV and Home Appliances over the last 50 years, for two days only! Visitors also had the chance to win their own part of the Hisense Home with the latest PureFlat Fridge Freezer and large 65-inch U8B 4K TV by guessing what birthday Hisense were celebrating – pretty easy, right? A home dedicated to 1969 helped create a sense of nostalgia for many, showcasing a genuine Hisense "Qingdao" TV (non-4K sadly…) from the same year, retro refrigerator, vintage record player, and retro wallpaper and more – taking some of the public back to the "good old days".

In contrast, the new 2019 home wow’ed visitors with the latest technologies and included some of Hisense’s latest products which were up for grabs; the U8B ULED TV which features 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and 1000-nit peak brightness, along with the RF540 PureFlat Multi-Door Fridge Freezer, which features Total No Frost, Multi-Air Flow, Dual-Tech Cooling and a non-plumbed water dispenser. You can view more about these products here U8B and RF540. The new home showed just how far technology had advanced in 50 years, making our lives not just easier, but brighter too.

Since 1969 Hisense has strived to make life simpler, better and more entertaining for their customers. From immersive ULED 4K TVs, multi-door fridge freezers with triple zone cooling, pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens, and 16 place setting dishwashers – Hisense have something for everyone!


We caught up with Senior Marketing Manager, Arun, who commented;

"The stand looked fantastic with the two zones looking very realistic and was endorsed by the engagement we received from the public. The event provided a great opportunity to talk about the brand, our products and celebrate our 50th anniversary. The feedback received from commuters was really positive and the winner of the competition was delighted to find out she’d won a new TV and Refrigerator in time for Christmas."


Competition winner, Michelle Peterson told us;

"I am SO SO delighted that you have written with this news, I can hardly take it in! I was chatting to your colleagues on the stand for quite a while as I was considering getting a Hisense TV and was asking him about refresh rate and all sorts of things – that’s when he said you might as well try and win one! The fridge freezer could not come at a better time, ours has been on the blink for ages. Again, thank you so much, I cannot wait to tell my family – they will also be over the moon!"
