Today is Pancake Day, and in celebration of the occasion,  Hisense have prepared a variety of pancake recipes that you can make with the family to enjoy.

These recipes can be topped with just about anything, sweet or savoury. So, join us and enjoy pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for this one day a year!

Recipe 1: Traditional British pancakes

Ingredients:

200g of plain flour

350ml of milk

2 large eggs

1 tsp of veg oil.

Butter (for frying)

A pinch of salt

Toppings of your choice.

Method:

A traditional British pancake can be likened to a French crepe – It is very similar in size, except a little bit thicker.

These pancakes are ideal for any kind of topping, whether that be sweet or savoury, its up to you! A simple, yet traditional topping to try is sugar and lemon juice.

Mix the flour, salt, milk, and eggs in a large bowl – sometimes if you do not have an electric whisk, the mixture can get lumpy. If this is a case, use a blender to avoid lumpy pancakes.

After this, add a generous tablespoon of your oil of choice and whisk through the mixture again.

Take a flat, large pan for the hob. Turn the heat up to medium-high, then use a teaspoon of butter to ensure the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan and add a ladle or splash of batter, and spread around the pan.

Remember, if cooking with children to stay safe around the hob. Hisense hobs offer a child lock function, which allows you to lock the hob to ensure children are not unintentionally interfering. This reducing the risk of them hurting themselves.

You must keep an eye on pancakes when cooking; a pancake can cook very quickly.

When the pancake looks ready, flip to the other side.

Once all pancakes are made, top generously.

For savoury, add bacon, cheese and herbs.

For sweet, add any fruit of your choice, alongside a sauce – Strawberries and Nutella are a popular choice.

A great combo of both a sweet and savoury pancake can be topped with chorizo and honey!

Recipe 2: Protein pancakes

For your fitness lovers, here is a healthy alternative to the traditional pancake, packed with protein!

Ingredients:

75  Oats

1 scoop of the Protein powder of your choice

 1 Banana

 3 Eggs

 A splash of Milk

A pinch of Salt

A splash Oil

Chocolate bar of your choice

Fruit of your choice, we would recommend strawberries.

Method:

Begin by blending your oats to break them into a powder like consistency. Then, add your protein powder, flour, and salt into a bowl.

Separately, add your eggs, milk, and banana (this needs to be mushed up prior)

Mix the bowls together until you have a smooth consistency and put in the pan.

These pancakes can often be a bit thicker, so making them in smaller circles when frying (American style), and stacking them to serve, may work better.

In the meantime, utilise the ‘soft melt’ function on your hob, and melt down a chocolate bar of your choice to drizzle on your pancakes alongside your strawberries!

Recipe three: vegan pancakes

Ingredients:

Flour

Organic sugar

Baking powder

½ salt

Non dairy milk of your choice ( 1 cup)

1 tablespoon of vanilla

Again, your choice of toppings.

Method:

Add the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Stir these and combine. Meanwhile, add milk and vanilla in another bowl to combine.

Mix both bowls together until smooth, and again fry in the pan with oil/ vegan butter.

These pancakes are better served thick, fluffy, and small. So stacking is ideal!

Add vegan bacon with maple syrup, or an assortment of fruit with a vegan chocolate drizzle.

Odds are, you probably have some mixture left over. With this, you can host a pancake day 2.0.
