Technology is continuously growing, so it can often be overwhelming when attempting to stay acquainted with specific, technical terms whilst on the search for a new television.

Hisense has put together a simple guide to help you distinguish the difference between technologies, to give you an idea of which one is perfect for you.

QLED televisions:

QLED, or Quantum dot LED allows the television to deliver a complete viewing experience due to the incredibly bright panels within the TV.

The incredibly bright panels with consistent high performance across all brightness levels means that QLED performs significantly better in comparison to traditional LED technologies. It has been proven to provide a heightened viewing experience when it comes to off-axis viewing. QLED technologies arguably have the best experience when it comes to watching HDR content, or when watching television in brighter rooms.

ULED televisions:

ULED (also known as Ultra-light emitting diode) has a wide colour pallet, which essentially means that the picture quality is much better.

Perfect for documentary lovers, Children’s films, and generally a great, all rounded television.

ULED can offer end users authentic colour, brilliant contrast, clear motion and distinct detail through its technologies, making ULED a popular option on today’s market.

OLED televisions:

Organic light emitting diode (OLED) televisions emit their own light, which means that colours tend to be more specific and realistic. For example, darker shades like black will be black, rather than a dark grey.

It is brighter, and more specific than traditional LED. It overall provides a better contrast, colour, and motion.

Whilst OLED seems like the go-to, it can often be a more expensive.

Mini led televisions:

Mini-LED bridges together QLED and OLED and is the best OLED alternative.Mini-LED offers smaller, more specific LED’s, which in turn provides better control, stronger colour contrasts and more precision when it comes to brighter colours. Whilst it does not achieve deeper, darker blacks, greys to the same extent as OLED, on a day-to-day basis this is not noticeable, or necessary.

In summary, Mini-LED offers the benefits of OLED, alongside the longevity of QLED.

How to decide what is right for me?

With the advanced technology present today, older technology does not match the higher quality content produced for streaming.

Where possible, try to avoid the standard LED technology, and go for ULED or higher. Understand what is important for you and your family when watching tv and use this guide to assess what technologies would enhance your viewing experiences.
